The Fond du Lac River is one of Northeast Saskatchewan’s gems. Many consider it as their favourite Saskatchewan river. It’s a clear, wild river, rushing 270 km northwest from its headwaters on Wollaston Lake to Lake Athabasca. The Fond-Du-Lac is unique in the Shield as it flows through picturesque limestone canyons. The array of looming limestone cliffs, rolling eskers, and sparse Jackpine forest make this terrain some of the best camping country in the world. It offers incredible scenery with some very picturesque waterfalls- Manitou Falls is a must see. There’s enough whitewater to keep you on your toes and most of it lies in the Class I and II realm. Bald eagles, black bear, moose and possibly caribou can all be seen on the Fond-Du-Lac. This trip is run in partnership with our friends at Churchill River Canoe Outfitters.
